WICKED COOL!!!

This is the exact pacemaker my Nanny had placed under her left collar bone Saturday!!! Isn't it tiny? It connects to two lead wires; one goes into upper chamber of the heart, and one in the lower... when one of them sensors a mis-fire in her heart, it kicks in and paces her heart back to a normal rhythm...isn't that cool??? It's all done very quickly, she was asleep; it's called a procedure, not an actual surgery... hard to believe something so tiny is helping to keep her alive??? Now her heart rate is staying around 80-90, instead of 30-40, where it has been for the last 4-6 months... she feels alot better now...

Grandma, Nanny, needs a pacemaker ...

Good morning all,

My sweet Nanny is in the hospital... she had a severe headache the last few days, speech was being affected, her walking, she was very weak, couldn't breathe well... she took herself to the E.R. in Irving a couple nights ago, and they admitted her. She had extremely high blood pressure, and a very low heart rate. So, she is scheduled for a pacemaker in the morning. Please pray for speedy recovery, and the procedure to go well for her. She takes care of my Grandpa, PaPa, who is very ill himself... he is going to have to go to a nursing facility, and this news is going to break his heart... please pray for him as well. My Mom and I are headed to the hospital at 1 o'clock today; will keep you updated. Love you blog family...

Our wedding anniversary...

Well, yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary... and we spent it with our 2 little girls... Mad's away at another church camp. Mark baked a chicken, and it was fabulous...he marinated it in balsamic vinegar... he also made rice and then I made a sauce for all of it. We had sangria, and then our wedding cake for dessert. It was surprisingly still good- after 2 years! The girls enjoyed it... we then watched the picture disc, and then the wedding video... the girls laughed and giggled, and Mark and I were amazed at our wedding vows, and how what we said then, still applies today... it was a beautiful day. Two years ago, and yesterday both. We are so happy, and can't believe two years has passed, without any 'knock-down drag-outs', no disappointments, no hurt feelings, it's very surreal really. I am more in love than I ever have been, and Mark says the same thing... we are content, at peace, profoundly in love... blah, blah, blah... I know I keep saying it over and over... don't throw up over my gushyness... I won't talk about anymore... for awhile anyway... ~wink~
I love you blog family!!!
XOXOXO

Another nurse in the house???

Ohhhhh, y'all, BIG,BIG news!!!! You know our house has been on the market because Mark wanted to go to college full-time???? Well, the college in Bowie now offers ON-LINE nursing school, with clinicals taken on the weekends!!! We are SO excited!!! Mark wants to be a NURSE!!!! Can you believe it???? Me neither!!! People keep asking me, "Do you think he will make a good nurse?", and I say "Are you kidding? He likes people more than I do, so he'll make a great nurse". And then, one of the instructors says, "It's really hard", like he's stupid or something??? I'm thinking to myself, if he can pass Intell school in the Marines, and then work in that field, and all he had to memorize... he can pass nursing school...duh??? So this means, we can stay in our beloved home... BUT... they are still showing the house!!! Our contract isn't up for another few weeks... it's in God's hands... no worries... so pray for us blog family... we have alot of work ahead!!! But it is such exciting, worthwhile work... I am just so proud of my husband for being so dedicated...wanting to learn new things, start a new career NOW... he truly amazes me...

My NEW office!!!

You can see my old office, where I have been suffering for over a year... no windows, no walls, there were 5 women in one room... freaking NOISY, interruptions all the time- we were on the same floor where surgery was going on...it was completely insane... now you can see I have not one, but TWO windows...real walls, a real PRIVATE office, and I am in the very back, near the breakroom, so it is very quiet... I LOVE my job again!!! YAY ME!!! Yea, we have a breakroom now too!!! I don't have to eat lunch at my desk ever again!!!

Mad's self-portraits...

I found these pictures in Mad's phone the other night... I think it's funny to see all of these 'self-portraits' being taken by people for their 'Myspace' or 'Facebook' or what-not... I sure did NOT look like that when I was 14!!!

Road Trip!!!

Mark & I were invited to a wedding over the weekend... it was his Marine friend, Morty, that he hasn't seen in six years! So, we get up at 4am Saturday morning and head out! Mamu was sweet enough to come over and stay with the girls... Mark drove the entire way down to Fin & Feathers Resort, at Toledo Bend Lake. It was a very pretty drive- thought I must say I read almost the entire time... 'Marley & Me', I just could NOT put it down- anyway, we got there around noon, and sat around the craw fish boil, met the wedding party, and then Daphne & I went to our room for a little nap. The wedding was at 6, right next to the water... it was very beautiful... they have 8 kids between them (little kids)- I KNOW!!!! And you thought WE were crazy??? The reception was alot of fun, and Mark's other Marine buddy was there from Corpus- Bullet! So I knew someone there I could talk to as well!! It was nice to get away, just the 2 of us... I promised to drive back Sunday morning, and I made it almost all the way home... the traffic in Ft. Worth was getting hairy... and I was tired and getting grumpy... so Mark offered ...(after I announced he was driving the rest of the way) , and I got to finish my book!!! The kiddos had alot of fun while we were gone... Mamu took the little girls to PawPaw Chris'... he has a new in-ground pool, and they swam like little mermaids for 2 whole days!!! Plus I heard PawPaw made them alot of yummy treats! Yea, they didn't miss me AT ALL!
